The Honor Flag for the week of Sept. 15th - Sept. 19th 2014 is flown in honor of:

Chaplain Humphrey L. Calder

Humphrey L. Calder was born September 15, 1806 in Glasgow, Scotland.

He entered the United States Army August 16, 1862 serving as a chaplain in the 7th Regiment, New York Heavy Artillery during the Civil War. 

He served in the following battles in Virginia: Spottsylvania, North Anna, Old Cold Harbor, Petersburg, Rams Station, Weldon Railroad

Chaplain Humphrey L Calder passed away May 24, 1891 and is buried in his family lot at Mount Pleasant Cemetery Gloucester, MA  

Each week the Office of Veterans' Services flies a flag in honor of a deceased veteran.  The veteran's name and service information appears on the board in the entrance to city hall and is displayed here on our website.
