The Council on Aging, at the Rose Baker Senior Center, provides free assistance to help you make the choice that is right for you. 

Call (978) 325-5811 and speak to Julie Smith, the outreach coordinator to schedule your SHINE appointment. Use this form to be prepared when you call.

The SHINE (Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Everyone) program provides free health insurance information and counseling to all Massachusetts residents with Medicare and their caregivers.  

SHINE Counselors can help you determine what your options are for 2024:

  • Understanding your insurance coverage
  • Finding the right coverage for you
  • Finding ways you can save money on your prescription drugs and health insurance
  • Helping you apply for programs that will lower your costs
  • Selecting the Medicare prescription drug plan that covers all of your medications

  • You can find a SHINE counselor near you by calling MassOptions at 1-800-243-4636.
  • SeniorCare, located at 49 Blackburn Center, Gloucester, Ma, now has an in-house SHINE counselor available on Mondays and Thursdays. Call (978) 281-1750 to make an in-person appointment. 
  • Call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) and review your insurance needs with a Medicare representative.
  • MassHealth (nationally known as Medicaid) has Certified Application Counselors (CAC) available by appointment at Addison Gilbert Hospital Financial Counseling Office. Call for information at (978) 381-7626.
