The Board of Assessors is comprised of three full time Assessors appointed by the Mayor, each serving a 3 year term. The Board is tasked with valuing real and personal property in compliance with Massachusetts state law (Chapter 59) and Department of Revenue standards. In addition, the Board administers motor vehicle and boat excise, deferrals and personal exemptions.
The Board’s goal is to promote public trust through fair and equitable valuations and high level customer service to the taxpayers of Gloucester.
