The Inspectional Services / Building Department also issues permits for:

• Building 
• Electrical 
• Gas fitting 
• Plumbing 

Please note that all building permit applications must be reviewed with a Building Inspector.  Inspectors are available Monday - Friday 8:30 to 9:30 am; Monday - Thursday 1 to 2 pm; and by appointment Thursday 5 to 6:00 pm.

Code Enforcement
The primary function of the Inspectional Services / Building Department is to enforce state codes relative to:

• Building
• Change of use of habitable and non-habitable structures
• Demolition
• Remodeling
• Renovation

Each code is unique and is derived from Massachusetts General Laws and/or city ordinances. All are designed for public protection and to ensure the health and safety of citizens.
