Public Notice

Construction improvements to the City’s Water Pollution Control Facility (WPCF) are currently ongoing and are being financed by the Massachusetts Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF #4503).

The CWSRF program is administered by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) with joint funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This project consists of upgrading various components at the WPCF. The work includes the construction of a new sodium hypochlorite chemical building, sludge thickening process piping modifications, chlorine contact tank piping modifications, thickened sludge rotary press SCADA modifications and select demolition work. The sodium hypochlorite building will include a pre-fabricated metal building system; chemical storage tanks and chemical feed systems; and associated structural, architectural, process piping, instrumentation and controls, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work.

This work will provide necessary upgrades/improvements that are intended to improve the operation of the City’s WPCF.

CWSRF programs operate around the country to provide states and communities the resources necessary to maintain and improve infrastructure that protects our valuable water resources nationwide.
